ne england day 2

Had the traditional full northumbrian breakfast at the b&b. their version has kippers. but considering kippers are fish, i dont recall getting them with it. anyway what we had was delicious.

We started our day at the Alnwick Castle. http://www.alnwickcastle.com/
This castle was cool because the family still lives in it and you can tell they do. There's family photographs and beanbag chairs in the library which was the first clue. Then you notice the stuffed dogs - which was a bit weird.

Also famous for being the backdrop to where harry potter learns to fly, the castle was nice to walk around.

After visiting the castle, we started the drive north to go to Lindisfarne. Passed a nice looking castled on the coast along the way.

The Holy Island of Lindisfarne (http://www.lindisfarne.org.uk/) is across a road which gets covered creating its island status. We managed to get there in time to visit the priory. There's also a winery but visiting that was basically like just going to a gift shop--not really a tasting. Because of the tide time (and the suddent onset of rain), we didn't stay on the island too long.

We did stop on the mainland side to walk along the edge for a bit.

Then we continued our drive north.

We stopped at the England/ Scotland border to take some pictures and then continued into Edinburgh.

Rounded off the evening with a trip to Sainsbury's, dinner, and alison attempting to repack her ridiculous amount of luggage components.
