under the sea

sunday, 25 september.
today.

it's my turn to plan the theme for the week at after school club. so it's an under the water/ocean theme. and i had to go grocery shopping for the snack today. was sad to make a trip to asda and come home with nothing i could eat. i basically have to go again to get my groceries. and there are still a few things i have to get for the week.

hopefully my theme will be okay. i guess we'll find out.

mary and laura

saturday, 24 september.

mary and laura were up in scotland east of edinburgh to see laura's dad, so brittany and i met them in town yesterday for a drink. i'm really glad they came into town and that we were able to meet them. it was really nice to see them. i miss being able to hang out with them. so that was fantastic.

that was about it for the day as i just still feel so tired and my head hurt so i didn't really do anything else with my day.

23 september

friday.

spoke with david (roehampton supervisor) about our article, since i finally got an email response back last week. basically you're supposed to have 3 reviewers, but they keep falling through so the editor sent me comments from 2. and they were super different. one was basically saying the article should NOT be published and had nothing to contribute to the body of literature and the other one was positive but had a bunch of things to change. so i wasn't really sure what to do with that, but i'm really glad that david and i had a discussion about it. i figured that he would be able to help, since he's done this a ton of times and i haven't. AND he basically told me to not pay attention to the first reviewer, which is helpful since it really wasn't at all. so now i at least know what i'm supposed to do - although it's not going to be easy and it will be lots of work.

a few more participants. and i made more flyers and posters. then i went around part of campus to put up some flyers. i went through a few buildings trying to find the student lounge areas (apparently there's not many places i'm technically able to put the posters) and that was a bit of a discovery of campus adventure. was in the engineering-ish buildings i think.

also got a call from the medical centre saying that the doctor figures i am anemic from the blood tests (apparently something could have been read from the 2nd test experience) and that i'll have to get iron pills. but i can pick those up next week. so that's new: i'm anemic. but i hope that makes me feel better and if it just takes some iron, that's fantastic.

went to the gym at the end of the day - haven't been in probably two weeks so that was nice.

did more uni work and watched some tv (oh and laundry) so really not an exciting friday evening either.

22 september

thursday.

had some kids come fill out a few questionnaires. i'm glad to get the few people, but it does mean i can't actively go look for people because i have to be at my desk so i'm not sure what to do.

went to the doctor, well nurse, for blood test round three. different nurse but the other one filled her in on the issues. apparently my blood had clotted to be not unusable last time since it came out so slow. they only had to redo 2 of the 4. so it took a few attempts but i'm far less bruised as a result. and hopefully that'll be the end of blood tests for awhile.

20 september

tuesday.

spanish week for our theme at after school club. we had a spanish equivalent of french toast for snack. that was tasty.

got an email that i needed to have my blood tests repeated so i had to make an appointment for that and convince the lady to get me the numbing cream stuff, so then the nurse came out and had a chat.

19 september

monday.

random bank holiday so no after school club. did uni work for most of the day and then went to orchestra.

18 september

sunday.

uni work and tutoring and then went to the pub to see becky. it was nice to see becky, with becky starting college and working and me not at monkey bizness it's been a lot harder to see her. and it wasn't even for very long, but at least it was something.

edinburgh's jungle city

saturday, 17 september.

Jungle City

Brittany and I walked around a good chunk of the town to see as many sculptures as we could. There's apparently 130 sculptures in total, and i need to check the photos (probably when i upload them here) to see how many we saw. But we saw a lot. And it was really nice. The weather at the beginning wasn't great but it got a lot nicer.

Plus our adventure took us in and out and around a bunch of fun places - parks, shops, the castle, grassmarket, etc. And we stopped for afternoon tea at M&S during our journey as well. (thanks alison for making that possible with a gift card)

It was just a pleasant way to see the city.
