ne england day 1

alison and i left newcastle to head to alnwick.

we took a detour to go see the angel of the north. a giant iron angel statue that was worth seeing. it was a rainy gray day though.

from there we went to metrocentre, the largest mall in england. we had brunch at M&S and went shopping. i finally found myself a whiteboard and whiteboard markers plus a binder at poundland which was awesome. plus i got some sport energy beans so that was a success. the mall was crowded and full of people.

from there we drove to Corebridge, a roman fort that was a base by Hadrian's wall. Basically stone ruins now, it was odd to be walking down the main street of a roman fort.

and then onward to alnwick. We went to the largest second hand book shop in England. It's in an old train station and quite neat. http://www.barterbooks.co.uk/

Then we checked into the B&B and the lady had tea and cakes ready for us. Nice to have on the rainy day. We walked up the road into town to go to dinner at a pub. Quite delicious and lots of food.
