friday

i had been more hopeful about my data situation on thursday as i had actually received a response from a person from the company who had asked for my form and data file. so on friday morning i had received a file back from him saying that it should be what i was looking for.
however, it had the same numbers i had gotten. so that took away pretty much all of my hope. plus then i could tell that adrian was on campus but he wasn't in his office. which just basically made me more and more anxious as i kept checking for him for about 2 hours. when i finally found him, he was busy with student meetings for another 2 hours.
when he finally came to find me i explained what had happened, but he still wasn't convinced that we still wouldn't be able to get the correct data. this was because it seemed to half code the data correctly. so he told me to send a reply email asking one last time explaining the situation in light of what we could figure. so now i'm waiting for that reply.
i did go change all of the active files. i still don't expect to be able to retroactively fix the problem, but hopefully i'll be able to go forward with usable data. it's just so much data that i won't be able to use. i'm really really really concerned about it.
on a positive note, i met with meike who just finished her msc in something related to consumer psychology. she's going to be a 'visiting researcher' which apparently means that she needs to help out on research projects going on at hwu. so adrain put her in touch with me and jane-marie. she's really nice and smart. and we had a great conversation about my projects and things. i'm excited for her to help me out. may even come up with a new project.
and she prompted me to create a document outlining my different projects and what the immediate goals are and tasks for us to do. so that's an organizing piece that hopefully will come in handy. i hope she can promote and get participants, i can use all the help i can get especially in light of this current data situation.
