festival things

tuesday.

went with jane-marie to get participants. had less luck than on the other day. so while i had hoped to get more i got about half as many. and the reality of getting many less than expected started to sink in ...sadly.

and it's a tiring long day to try to get people to fill out surveys. i originally thought that i'd just hang out all day and get people. that's really hard. after an hour or two, that's about all i can handle. with the high amount of rejections and incompletes and everything, it's rough.

met brittany at the book festival to hear neil gaiman speak. he's brittany's favorite author so she was pretty excited. and it was really good. i enjoyed it a lot. had to leave and not meet him though because i was also going with jane-marie to hear david sedaris speak.

interestingly, i had not seen anything from either the book or fringe festival, and then the two things were on the same day.

hearing david sedaris speak was awesome. he read a number of different pieces. and they were really good. really enjoyed one about china/ chinese food (from the guardian) and the i'm not running (from vanity fair) was also good. oh and excerpts from his journal - those were brilliant. even his taking a few questions at the end was also humorous to listen to.

and i'm glad that i can officially say i went to a fringe and book festival event.
